Logotype Brief Feedback

After analysing the work that I've done for WBRT so far, and asking Craig (owner of WBRT) for his input, I've came up with a brief that has maybe too much information (especially surrounding the target audience, maybe).

Got some feedback from Sarah to reduce the repeating information, but everything else was sound.

I'll put in some extra info here that I didn't submit in the brief.

TYPE OF ORGANISATION

Where we can and where it is appropriate we provide long-term care for birds that are no longer capable of wild release and this can include some blind and some disabled birds where we can assure them of a good quality of life. We also assist with re-homing birds such as geese to save them from being culled needlessly.

BIG PICTURE

There are 27,693 registered charities in New Zealand. About 315 of these work in the care or protection in the animals sector across New Zealand.

For the Wellington-Wairapapa region, there are 2,557 registered charities with 1.1% of these being in the sector of care/protection of animals, equating to roughly 28 organisations. It’s quite a niche market.

Big 'competitors' across New Zealand would be DOC, Forest & Bird and the SPCA.

Local to Wellington would be Zealandia, Urban Wildlife Trust & Wellington Zoo.

TARGET AUDIENCE

A standard business' target audience are people who buy products or services and expect something material (usually) in return.

However, we are a charity - our main beneficiaries are the birds.

To keep this organisation running, our target audience need to be individuals who are seeking:

  • an experience (whether it's for personal growth or development)
  • a feeling (life satisfaction / selflessness / knowing you made a positive impact for the community / being a part of something bigger)
  • reputation (usually businesses looking to engage in CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility)Most people tend to donate via the Givealittle website - it's quite a reputable platform where people can donate to charities.

TONE

The tone that WBRT currently takes on their website copy and Givealittle page is professional yet approachable.

On social media (Facebook & Instagram), it's more friendly and fun!

I sent some logo tonality examples to Craig...

Classy

Casual / Neutral

Fun / playful / Friendly

Serious / professional

He picked the one below, but Sarah mentioned not to include it in the brief so that it doesn't affect the designer's choices.

His feedback: I like first (classy one) as it says what we do and infers to me credibility and professionalism.
