Concept 2

Another timelapse of my explorations. I wanted to recreate the sketch where the G and S was connected but I felt it wasn't working and opted for a more 'casual doodle' (Sorry if there's a lot of flashes in the timelapse, I was at war with myself on which style to pick). This logo's intention is to be more freeform - thus highlighting the 'custom-made' aspect of the business - but still holding some attitude. I liked the look of framing the word 'stick' with flourishes from the 'G' and 'T'.

The majority of the video shows that I was working really hard on the left style but chose the more simpler one on the right in the end.

While sketching it out in Procreate, I realised that if I tried to edit too much and attempt to make it perfect, it loses a bit of the freeform vibe and dynamic feel. I can't dictate what it should be. I had to explore and worked with what I came out with. That was interesting to learn. Although I'm not sure if it's because of my lack of calligraphic skills, ha.

Before and after thickening it in Illustrator.
I had to thicken it because I had to keep in mind that it'd be used as a vinyl decal.

Because the final style had a handwritten feel, I opted to hand-write the sub text instead of relying on a font. As usual, I played a lot with the placement of the sub-text.

These 2 above were my favourites. I'm fine with either and I'd love to pick the one on the right so that it has some variety from my other logo designs, but again, thinking about the usage of sticker space, the left one would be more practical, so I decided on that as my final instead.

I also experimented with giving the logo an outline stroke (which surprisingly, changed the look quite a bit) as well as tried out different ways to implement colour.

Although I did like the contrast of colour, i wasn't too fond of showing how the outlines overlap each other so I opted to keep it all in the same range of colour (yellow fill, red outlines).

I would say this concept was one that drastically changed from what I initially set out to create, and maybe that's okay, as long as it still meets the brief - which I feel like it still does showcase funkiness and fun whilst giving an element of 'freedom of expression', 'customisation' and 'uniqueness' :)

Time spent: 2 1/2 hours (including refining the design I didn't choose in the end)
